IPL & Photofacial

Radiant & Youthful Skin

Do you suffer from acne, blotches, scars, wrinkles, redness, line, age spots, or unwanted tattoos or even hair? Laser skin resurfacing removes skin layer by layer with exact precision & the new skin cells that form during the healing process give the skin a tighter, younger looking surface.

What Is IPL Treatment?

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, aka photofacial, is a way to improve the color and texture of your skin without surgery. It can undo some of the visible damage caused by sun exposure — called photoaging. You may notice it mostly on your face, neck, hands, or chest.

IPL may help if you have red, brown, or splotchy skin because of a health condition.

How IPL Treatment Works

IPL uses light energy to target a certain color in your skin.

When the skin is heated, your body gets rid of the unwanted cells, and that gets rid of the thing you’re being treated for. Unlike lasers, an IPL device sends out more than one wavelength of pulsating light. It can treat a range of skin conditions at the same time.

After IPL, you may look younger because your skin tone is more even. And since the light doesn’t hurt other tissue, you can get better quickly.

A board-certified dermatologist should give it. (You might see the letters FAAD — fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology — after their name.) In some cases, a nurse or physician assistant might be able to do it. Either way, find someone who’s skilled with IPL.

Who Should Get IPL Treatment?

It works best if you have pale or light brown skin. Talk to your dermatologist if you want to lessen or get rid of:

  • Acne
  • Birthmarks
  • Stretch marks
  • Liver or age spots
  • Broken blood vessels
  • Brown spots, also called liver or age spots
  • Dark spots from hormonal changes
  • Discolored skin
  • Fine wrinkles
  • Freckles
  • Redness from rosacea
  • Scars
  • Spider veins
  • Unwanted hair

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a technique for removing the topmost layer of skin, leaving it supple and vibrant. TheDiamondTome™ Wand removes the damaged layer of skin by gently exfoliating the skin with natural diamond chips, while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile and controlled manner. Removing this outer layer of dead skin cells leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells. Microdermabrasion is a wonderful alternative to laser skin resurfacing or chemical peels because it is non-invasive, non-surgical, and requires no down time after treatment. Your skin will have a radiant glow, free of irritation and loose particles.

Microdermabrasion can help to treat a variety of conditions, including sun-damaged skin on the face, neck, or shoulders; age spots on the hands or face; minor to moderate fine lines around the eyes or on the forehead; acne scars; blackheads and whiteheads; hyperpigmentation; and oily skin.

Skin Pen Microneedling

Micro Needling

Microneedling therapy with PRP is “Hollywood’s Hottest Secret”, and Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a pen shaped device containing 12 very fine needles. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. With the addition of PRP, Platelet-Rich-Plasma, you can really take the treatment to the next level. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin, while PRP represents a way to enhance the healing of your skin cells while increasing the growth factors of your skin. The two therapies workin synergy to create a treatment that brings better results than each part could alone.

How does Microneedling work?

The SkinPen Precision is the only FDA approved microneedling device in the US.  It is the only device that has been clinically proven to be safe and effective. The SkinPen slides along the skin, penetrating the upper layers of the skin to a depth of up to 2.5 mm to create numerous tiny needle wounds. The procedure prompts the body to respond through the creation of new collagen and elastin fibers. In response to the stimulus, the skin plumps and thickens, reducing the appearance of scars, and fine lines and wrinkles.

What conditions can be treated or improved with Medical Microneedling?

  • Mild to moderate acne scarring; any new or old scars
  • Fine lines and wrinkles;
  • Loose, lax skin;
  • Skin texture and pore size
  • Stretch marks
  • Sun-damage
  • Age spots
  • Blotchy skin coloring

What will I look like after the treatment?

Most people will experience redness and mild swelling in a similar way as mild sunburn for 24-48 hours and there may be minimal pin-point bleeding. Within a week or two, you will notice that your skin is smoother and more radiant looking, but the full effects won’t be seen until a few months later.

What is the down time after Medical Microneedling treatment?

The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last for 12 to 48 hours. In order to reduce visible redness, we recommend the use of ZO Medical Revitatrol immediately after the procedure, and to protect the skin with Aestique Sheer Mineral Spf 40 zinc-based sunblock.  To achieve optimal results from this procedure, once the visible redness has minimized, ZO Medical C-Bright and Retamax should be added to the skincare regimen. The use of Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup is also recommended after this procedure.

What are the benefits of Medical Microneedling?

  • Dramatically increases the effectiveness and penetration of active ingredients in topical preparation
  • Stimulates circulation and collagen production
  • Medical grade titanium needles makes it non-allergenic to human tissue
  • Cost effective compared to other resurfacing procedures
  • Can be performed on all skin types, including ethnic skin
  • It can be used on all areas of the scalp, face, body including fragile skin like around eyes, mouth and neck

Is Medical Microneedling painful?

Prior to the treatment, numbing cream can be applied to minimize pain that is felt during the procedure.

Can Microneedling be performed on any skin color?

Medical Microneedling is safe to use on all skin types and all skin colors.

How many treatments do I need and how often can Medical Microneedling procedures be repeated?

Microneedling can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. For collagen induction we recommend to start with 4 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 4 to 6 weeks between treatments. For scar reduction an average of 3 to 6 treatments are recommended. The number of treatments required will depend on how each individual responds to the treatments, and the extent of the damage at the beginning Microneedling can be used on all skin parts of the body (neck, décolleté, arms, legs, etc). Most people will begin to see results after the very first appointment.

What should I avoid on my skin after treatment?

To ensure the right healing environment, for 2-3 days do not use AHA’s (glycolic Acid), retinol, acidic or “active” ingredients. Exposure to sun should also be avoided or zinc based sunblock should be used.

Benefits Of Laser Hair Removal

Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from the face, leg, chin, back, arm, underarm, bikini line, and other areas. Benefits of laser har removal include the following:

  • Precision: Lasers can selectively target dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.
  • Speed: Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat many hairs at the same time. The laser can treat an area approximately the size of a quarter every second. Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, and large areas, such as the back or legs, may take up to an hour.
  • Predictability: Most patients have permanent hair loss after an average of three to seven sessions.
